9. A recommended path forward

Catchment Audit Question

Consider the diverse interests in play in your catchment, the options you have identified, and the principles you consider are reasonable, and develop a recommended path forward.

The path you recommend can legitimately include any and each of:

  1. actions you recommend to directly address ecological problems ,
  2. investigations you recommend that will open the way to future action, and
  3. negotiations you recommend whose outcomes you cannot currently predict, but which are needed if catchment management in your area is to move forward.

Allow this process to be creative; work from ‘the feel’ of the situation, not simply from the explicit logic of what you have already articulated.

Process

The task is basically one of thinking into the issues and factors that you have identified during your audit, and making a judgment about what it makes sense to do. You need to be explicit about why your recommended course of action makes sense.

Output

Summarise the main conclusions of the catchment audit:

  • interests to be acknowledged
  • options to be considered
  • principles to be respected
  • your recommended course of action.
