Detailed Description
The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) is a professional organisation providing member services and advocacy for those involved in and delivering public works and engineering services to the community.
IPWEA is how to the National Asset Management Strategy Committee (NAMS.AU), whose stated aims include to provide national leadership and advocacy in the sustainable management of community infrastructure; and provide resources to assist asset management practitioners. NAMS.AU encourages entities with responsibility for managing service delivery from infrastructure assets to adopt the structrue and framework for asset management planning that is setout within the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM) (see Related Resources).
The "Assets" section of the IPWEA website links to a range of tools and guidance to help orgnisations write their own asset management plans based on the two approaches outlined in the IIMM - core and advanced. Most of the detailed guidance on infrastructure management is available to paid subscribers only - and this website links to NAMS.PLUS training opportunities, Pratice Notes, Manuals (including the IIMM) etc.
The majority of the resources are for built infrastructure assets - and the principles and frameworks contained and promoted therein would be applicable to the ongoing life cycle management for WSUD Assets.
Of particular interest to those interested the evolving field of natural asset management is the Asset Mates forum - a online members based web-forum which is free for anyone to join, and provides access to discussion archives and an interactive ongoing "Q&A" session between asset managers from across the country - many of them local government based.
